I just had my last "pre-paid" call...

and I couldn't be happier! Actually, it's a little bitter-sweet. I'm happy that it's my last, but I don't get to talk to Josh at all tomorrow. :o(

In case you've never received a call from a prison, I'll tell you how it goes...

1. Telephone rings
2. Your caller id will say "unknown caller"
3. You say "hello?"
4. This woman's voice says, "You have a pre-paid call, you will not be charged for this call, this call is from..."
5. There will be a pause
6. Josh, in his own voice says, "Josh"...cough (***this is kind of funny...when Josh first set up his phone numbers there, he had to do it basically like we do our voicemail on a cell phone, and at the beep I'm guessing, he had to say "Josh" - well, I guess he didn't realize it was still recording because he says "Josh.......cough (not really cough, but the sound)"
7. After your inmate states his/her name, the woman's voice comes back and says "an inmate at, a Federal Prison"
8. The woman then says, "To accept this call, press 5"

I've never got past that, so I don't know what else she says!

So then Josh and I begin talking, and our phone calls are recorded, and about every 4-5 minutes the woman's voice comes back and says "this call is from a federal prison". WHAT? IS THAT WHERE YOU ARE JOSH? I THOUGHT YOU WERE AT WALMART PICKING UP MILK! haha...We did get a few laughs out of that constant reminder, but I must say, I will NOT miss the woman's voice!

I'm writing about this for the simple fact that, it's going to be weird! For the last year, I haven't been able to call Josh even once! Not at all! He calls me, and can just talk for 15 minutes at a time and he has to wait 45 minutes between phone calls. Oh, and he has 300 minutes a month (he purchased them for $70/month). That was kind of tough b/c I think about things all the time, and then forget them, so by the time I would talk to him whenever he could call, I would always say "there was something I was going to tell you"! I know what you're thinking, why didn't I write as I thought? Don't ask me, I don't know?! There were several months, closer to the end here, where we would run out of minutes with a week to go until he could buy more time..ahh! So anyway, I'm more than likely going to drive Josh crazy at first b/c I'll probably call him every time I think of something, or just to say I love you and hear his voice ;o)

So there is some useless information for you...I hope you've enjoyed your lesson on prison phone calls! I hope everyone has a great week!
